Managing people isn't easy. It is especially tough if you've never done it before. The ability to motivate people in achieving goals versus doing it yourself requires totally different competencies. Building Essential Leadership Skills gives newly-appointed managers a jump start on developing these skills.
Building Essential Leadership Skills is a practical, two-day workshop. in which participants are introduced to the principles and methods of effective leadership in organizations, while gaining experience and insights that can be directly applied to their own work situations.
In Building Essential Leadership Skills, participants explore what's needed to evoke excellence in others' performance. They examine qualities required of a leader - qualities such as flexibility, judgment, the ability to build alignment, and to listen to and inspire others.
This workshop provides a foundation for participants to develop their own ability as managers in identifying and resolving group problems, building consensus and teamwork, and opening new possibilities to elevate levels of performance in others.
What happens in the Workshop?
During the workshop, participants not only hear lectures addressing the nature and methods of leadership, they will work individually with others attending in "trying on" the roles of manager and employee. Through structured exercises, case studies and simulations, participants will discover what's needed to operate effectively in typical situations managers face each day.
Results the Workshop Will Produce.
While gaining new leadership skills as a manager takes time and practice, this two-day workshop allows participants to achieve key results:
- A new understanding of what leadership is in a way that opens new possibilities for effective action;
- Experience and self-assessment of ability to work and relate with others;
- New clarity on the problems and obstacles that impede progress;
- The ability to put into practice new tools that make working with others significantly more effective and natural.
